Our Vision, Our Mission, Our Calling

Our vision is to restore St Anthony of Padua Catholic Church of St Peter, Ks to its original beauty. We will relieve the financial burden from the Diocese of Salina and Christ the King Church and it's members in Wakeeney, KS, as well as those that can no longer support the church in St Peter.
Our mission is to maintain the church and the cemetery as a Sacred place and with the Bishop of the Diocese of Salina blessing, to hold 2 masses per year in the church. We will keep the church open for those that want to view the church and for those that want to come in private prayer.
The Preservation Society will hold Fundraising activities throughout the year to include yard sales, flea market's, open house, and Volga German activities to include Polka dances and German food. Plus we will offer items for sale on our website to support and maintain the church.

The present church was started in 1949 and completed in time to hold the first Mass on Christmas Eve. Stained glass windows and the altars were used from the old church.
The second Church

In October 1898, Peter A. Rome donated land for the second Church. Hoganville was abandoned and renamed to St Peter. This church served the congregation until 1948, when it was deemed unusable due to the Kansas winds.
Altar in present day church

This altar came from the second church and was cut down to fit the new church along with the side altar's.
St Anthony Cemetery

As St Anthony Church of St Peter Preservation Society, we will maintain the cemetery of our 450 or so ancestors who are currently buried here and those to be buried in the future. We promise to keep the cemetery looking presentable at all times. We plan to erect a directory near the front entrance so anyone looking for a particular ancestor will know where to find the gravesite.
